Sep 5 Learn about Cat Breeding
Humans and cats have gone together for many years - thousands, in fact. While dogs are the most popular pet, felines are the second most popular. The hardy nature of cats makes them the ultimate pet for people who aren’t home for many hours at a time.
While dogs might need long walks regularly, all cats need is a little food and a little attention. These particular pets are among the most easy to house, as they easily fit into an apartment, because they do not require much space and adapt easily. They tend to be very affectionate, love to play, and are loyal to people of many ages, making them a perfect pet.
By and large, domestic cats tend not to be pedigree, as they come from a mixture of different breeds. Purebred cats are frequently very expensive, and since there is no definite advantage of purebred over mixed breeds, only 3% of all pets are purebred. Still, there are more than 100 distinct purebred cats, as determined by global purebred groups.
Notable differences exist between the separate breeds, of course, as you can tell by looking at the unique breed shapes, sizes, coat color, coat length, eye color, and individual personalities. Cats can be categorized as the short haired or long haired variety. Short hairs are very abundant, however, whereas the long haired ones are not as abundant.
Long hair cats are very pretty, but they require extensive grooming, and will have more frequent hairballs. Cuts are harder to care for with a long hair, and fleas are harder to get rid of.
