When decorating a bathroom it is important to consider the décor of the rest of the home, especially the areas closest to the bathroom. An example is a master bathroom. If the bedroom is decorated in an early American theme then a Contemporary look in the bath may not be the best choice. The flow should continue from one room to another as one walks through a home. There should be something that connects the rooms.

While some people use paint to do this and others use carpet or other flooring, furniture and bathroom fixtures need to blend for a perfect flow. This is not to say that the rooms should match perfectly, far from it. But they should tie in together. Even a single fixture can carry the flow from one room to the other.
A theme could be carried from the bedroom into the bath with the right light fixture. Bathroom vanities are an excellent way to continue a flow from one room to another. Because vanities are a natural focal point in a bathroom a lot of attention is given to their style and design. This is also true of mirrors. Although every bathroom has mirrors, when a bathroom has a mirror that is different or unique in some way it is intriguing and captivates our interest. In fact, this is one way to alleviate the need for the continuation of the ‘flow’ in this particular item. If it is unique enough to stand out and grab our attention then it can stand alone in the design or style of the room.
Even simple additions like special light bulbs can add a touch of glamour, or wonder to a bathroom. With a little inspiration and thought even steam units can easily and seamlessly blend in with the flow from one room into the bathroom. Decorating and designing is not a difficult task when you take it one step at a time.
Begin with what you like. Consider the look of the rest of your home so that you can have a blend of some sort. But keep in mind that the blend can often be accomplished with the use of a single unique or interesting item. In other words, don’t try to make each room of your home a replica of the other. Just have a nice flow.
You decide how to create that flow. Use style, design, or even colors. In the end the desired outcome is a room (home) that pleases you. When you have flow from room to room it provides a sense of peace and tranquility. The mind has a sense of what to expect, it’s not shocked at what it sees as you move from one area to another. This can make your guests (and those that live there) feel more comfortable and relaxed.
